Founded in the February 2009, the NWIBL is considered to be the premier Summer Baseball League in the Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington. Having already graduated most NWIBL players are no longer NCAA eligible, those that are still eligible like all of the NWIBL players are not paid in order to maintain their eligibility. The NWIBL is different from the many other summer collegiate baseball leagues in that the league also allows former professionals and college graduates to participate. With over 35 ex-pro and 180 ex college players along with the returning NCAA eligible players the NWIBL is a highly competitive summer baseball league. NWIBL Players continue to play their game with passion from May to the end of August. The City Championship Series caps off the Portland Season during the last 2 weeks of August. If you still have your glove and your old cleats, knock off the dust and come on out and join us. Teams are just getting out to practice we have tryouts set for late February and early March at Westmorland Park see NWIBL.ORG for directions and more League information. We also have a new 28 and older Division starting in 2014 This will be a recreation league for those of you who just want to have fun and continuing playing with out having to face 80+ MPH pitching 2014 Schedule |

Wood Baseball Bats...Real Baseball for those who want to play the baseball way! Wood bats were the only choice for any batter in the game of baseball until the mid 1970's. But today, wood bats are used far less often than aluminum bats on both the baseball and softball diamonds. Pros are required to use wood bats, and for safety reasons, some high school leagues have recently moved to wood only and in 2012 both High Schools and colleges will have to start using BBCOR .50 Bats only.. Most wooden bats are made of northern white ash, but in recent years maple and Birch has become a popular option. This trend started with the success of MLB players since the 2001 season.
